Next, immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring architecture of the Sagrada Família, a grand Roman Catholic Church envisioned by the visionary Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí. Gaudí's whimsical and colorful embellishments lend a fairy tale aura to the city, evoking the essence of an artist's fantastical dream.

This historically rich city has witnessed the reigns of both the Visigoths and the Arabs. It served as the final bastion of the Arab dynasty during their eight-century rule over the Iberian Peninsula. In the 15th century, King Ferdinand successfully ousted the Arabs, leading to the unification of Spain. Your journey includes a memorable stop at the Alhambra, a stunning Moorish fortress and palace famously known as the Red Palace. Afterwards, you'll explore the enchanting old city of Granada, renowned for its intricate and graceful architecture. If time allows, your guide may offer an optional excursion to Mijas and/or Ronda for further exploration.

Day 5 : Granada - Seville (210 km)

In the morning, embark on a self-paid group activity and head to Ronda, the birthplace of Spanish bullfighters. Ronda proudly holds the distinction of being home to Spain's oldest bullring, where the love, hatred, and passion of the fighters of that era were witnessed. Despite its seemingly serene facade, Ronda emanates a vibrant Spanish charm that is unmatched. The town's romantic and peaceful white houses perched on the dramatic cliffs serve as a testament to its allure.

After the group activity in Ronda or Mijas, the tour will journey northbound to Seville, the largest city in the autonomous region of Andalusia. Seville, once the capital of the Muslim dynasty, is considered the guardian angel of culture in Andalusia and the birthplace of the flamenco dance. It has been the primary setting of many operas, most notably Bizet’s Carmen. As the fourth largest city in Spain, it hosted the Universal Exposition of Seville in 1992. Upon arrival, you'll visit the Seville Cathedral, the largest Gothic cathedral and the third-largest church in the world. Completed in the early 16th century, the cathedral halls now serve as the Royal Chapel, the burial place of kings for over a century. The tomb of Christopher Columbus, who discovered the New World, is also housed in the cathedral as a tribute to the great navigator.

Next, you'll explore the Alcázar of Seville, a former Muslim palace turned Spanish Royal Palace. Still utilized by the royal family today, the upper levels of the Alcázar serve as the official Seville residence, making it the oldest royal palace still in use in Europe. Recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987, alongside the Seville Cathedral, the Alcázar offers a glimpse into centuries of history and culture. You'll stroll through Santa Cruz, Torre del Oro (the Tower of Gold), and Maria Luisa Park, the site of the 1992 World Expo. In Plaza de España (Spain Square), marvel at intricately crafted porcelain paintings depicting the history and elegance of Spain's past.

Returning to Lisbon's city center, we'll explore two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery. Belém Tower, pivotal during the Age of Discovery, served as a departure point for historic voyages. Meanwhile, Jerónimos Monastery stands as a masterpiece of Portuguese Late Gothic Manueline architecture. En route, we'll pass through Marquis of Pombal Square and pause at Rossio Square for leisure time.
