The Khewra Salt Mine (or Mayo Salt Mine) is located in Khewra, north of Pind Dadan Khan, an administrative subdivision of Jhelum District, Punjab Region, Pakistan. The mine is located in the Salt Range, an outer range of the Himalaya Mountains which rises from the Indo-Gangetic Plain. Khewra Salt Mines is the world’s 2nd largest salt mine, Pakistan’s largest mine, and the worlds oldest salt mine. The mine is famous for production of famous Pink Himalayan Salt and is a major tourist attraction that attracts around 250,000 visitors a year. Khewra Salt Mine is a great tour and apart from the mine’s production and heritage, it is a fantastic place to visit.
