Goygol district in western Azerbaijan is a picturesque region, home to the famous Goygol Lake located 1,600 meters above sea level. The lake's clear, blue waters and forested banks make it one of the most beautiful in the Caucasus. The State Goygol reserve is located here, home to a variety of wildlife, including noble Caucasian deer, bear, fox, wild cat, and many bird species. The park is also covered by rich vegetation, with 80 species of trees and shrubs, including eastern beech, oak, birch, and pine. The area has a cold, mostly dry climate, with an average annual temperature of 4-10 degrees. The district was founded by German colonists in 1819, and today, the area reflects the friendship between Azerbaijan and Germany, with efforts made to preserve German heritage.
